Self-evaluation Model

Resources for Secondary School LRCs

New Users

From this section you can download the full documentation for the Self-evaluation Model for secondary schools. The material is provided as a main document and a support booklet and you will need to have both in order to make a start on your rolling programme of evaluations which you should be able to complete within a two to three year cycle.

The main document contains an explanation of how to carry out an evaluation, blocked out in ten steps, a worked example and the summary sheets for recording your findings for each of the key questions and their related strands. It also contains a section for providing a profile for your school and its LRC.

The support booklet has detailed guidance on the full scope of the evaluation including gathering evidence and actions for improving your LRC as well as the necessary tools and checklists for recording the evidence. These are arranged in a modular fashion by key question and strand.

While it is important to have the full documentation with explanations for the first visit, you may find it easier in subsequent visits to download just the pages relating to specific strands for a key question. These files can be downloaded from the section Need a Key Question.

You can download Microsoft Word Viewer 97/2000 for viewing and printing "doc" files on early PC systems or those without a recent version of Microsoft Word. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Adobe Reader for viewing and printing "pdf" files using almost any system on any type of computer.
